Earth Day Production!

This week the students and staff at Steward were part of something extraordinary!  On Tuesday morning they enjoyed an Earth Day extravaganza that was written and performed by our third grade student council members.  For the past several months, our students have been preparing for this huge event by collaborating in small groups to write an earth day pledge, create skits about saving the environment and produce a short film about ways we help the Earth at Steward.  Our second graders helped create the set design as well.  Each grade level, including the preschoolers, learned a song about protecting our earth and its natural resources.  What began as a "seed" turned into quite a production, another example of the power of community.  This production would not have been possible without the hard work of our third graders, Mindy Swanson, Zillie Bhuju, Andrew Prazar, Meredith Edelstein, members of our Tri-Town Rotary (Lisa Teichner, Bill Shannon, Dr. Creeden) and Stephanie Corliss.  We were all in the cafeteria for our first ever experience involving a performance by every grade level and completely organized by students.  Thank you to everyone who made this happen, it was an experience as a Principal that I will not soon forget!
