Olweus All School Assembly

Today several children helped to reinforce the lessons, vocabulary and definitions from our Olweus Bullying Prevention Program.  Several third graders provided students with the meaning of the words we use at school to define certain roles children play in various social situations.  We reinforced the concept that a one time event or action does not constitute bullying behavior.  Bullying behavior is repeated, intentional and involves a power imbalance of some type.  We did role playing as well and the children loved counting one, two, three and then saying, "ACTION" before each scene.  We made a pledge to follow our bullying prevention rules and enjoyed some great entertainment from our own students as well!

Collage

Mrs. Lang has been working on collages with warm and cool colors. The first grade students have made beautiful art and developed a true appreciation for the color they each studied.

Elf Store

The second graders had so much fun at the elf store today! They used their math
skills to buy their clothing and accessories and many volunteers helped with this annual activity.

Wreaths Across America

Members of our third grade student council joined Mrs. Costa and Mrs. Corliss at the "Wreaths Across America" event at the Topsfield Fairgrounds. Over 60,000 wreaths, made by volunteers in Kittery, Maine, were driven by caravan in 12 tractor trailers. These wreaths will be put on the headstones of fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery. Our student council donated money for six wreaths. We will definitely participate in supporting this project in the future!

Len Cabral

Today the children had an incredible experience listening to a most gifted storyteller, Len Cabral.  He is a Steward favorite, as he has an incredibly engaging way of presenting stories that capture his audience from the first word.  We are hoping this will inspire our students to bring their own stories to life through their writing and storytelling!
