Fairy House Visit

Our very close neighbor, Patty Grillo, came to share her incredible fairy house that took over 200 hours to create. This taught our children a great lesson about perseverance and setting goals.

Olweus Kick Off

Each fall, as part of our Olweus bullying prevention program, we have a "kick off" event. This year each grade level designed a bulletin board representing one of our four bullying prevention rules.
1. We will not bully others.
2. We will try to help students who are being bullied.
3. We will try to include students who are left out.
4. If we know somebody is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.
These bulletin boards are extremely creative and the children were able to make more sense of the rules by participating in this activity. The children in each class will soon take a field trip around the school so each teacher can share all the boards with the children. This is an activity that brought the whole school together.

More pictures to come!

Tipi Dan

This is a "back blog" since this event occurred in September but I had to share since Tipi Dan always makes such a strong impact on our third graders.  Tipi Dan shares information about Native American culture but the underlying message of the day is the importance of respect and teamwork.  The children spend time looking at artifacts and learning about Native American culture.  In the end, they work as a team building a tipi and learn the importance of working together to accomplish a goal.  The educators reported that the children were mesmerized by his teaching!
